Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – 19 July 2013
Role: Operations Director and Talent Booking
Brief: When Olympic legacy charity Join In approached us to produce their inaugural event championing volunteering in the UK, the brief was comprehensive, and challenging. Multiple stakeholders were involved, the venue had yet to be scoped or confirmed, and despite the show being just 6 months away, talent had not been identified or approached; content was entirely unknown and the event team unassembled. A blank canvas!
Solution: With the introduction of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park into 2013’s event calendar, the newly created Chobham Manor site was the obvious target. The event, ‘Go Local’, needed to be sympathetically curated in order to entertain and educate an audience about volunteering opportunities in sports clubs and community groups throughout the UK. An industry-leading creative and technical team was engaged to fulfil the brief.
Results: We secured a world-class event space, booked 24 artists, and curated a 2.5-hour show that did not disappoint. 30k people helped to create a phenomenal atmosphere and left feeling entertained and inspired, with a renewed sense of purpose to volunteer in their local communities.
